Company wide Dynamo implementation process

This post includes Dynamo suggestions to help you enhance your workflow and productivity while also increasing the efficiency of your charts. We'll look at some simple ideas for adding automation and increasing efficiency to your daily process. I'll also go over some more advanced tips and methods that are less broad and more specific to certain AEC procedures.

Custom packages sharing

When the developer saves the Dynamo file, the libraries of the custom packages used in it are not saved. For the code to run properly, you must duplicate the developer's environment, including the Dynamo version and all custom node libraries.

By running the shortcut extension, all packages used according to the revit version can be uploaded to the users. In the background, a dynamo code ensures that all packages are uploaded to the user's file location depending on the version.

Dynamo template

The image below is an example of how dynamo startup files can start to be organized, sorted, color coded and standardized for multiple users.

Dynamo Python template

With Dynamo 2.0, we can now select a default template (.py extension) to use when opening the Python window for the first time. This expedites the use of Python within Dynamo. The option to use a template guarantees that default imports are available for use when developing a custom Python script.
